Hybrid Halogen CFL Light Bulb

Due to the upcoming ban on incandescent bulbs, manufacturers have been working hard to produce bulbs without the use of expensive LED’s or dysfunctional CFL’s.  The most recent of these products is the hybrid halogen CFL produced by GE.  These bulbs are shaped like an incandescent glass bulb in order to aid the transfer from incandescent to more energy efficient light bulbs.

The hybrid halogen CFL, like the name implies, puts an instantly bright halogen capsule inside the swirl of a CFL bulb.  The halogen part of the bulb turns on immediately, then turn off once the CFL comes to full brightness.  This helps to preserve the energy efficiency of the bulb.  The new bulbs are designed to have eight times the life of incandescent lights.  A typical incandescent bulb last 1,000 hours while the new hybrid halogen CFL’s last 8,000 hours.  The new products are 15 and 20-Watt GE Energy Smart Soft White and Reveal CFL’s and are consumers can expect to pay anywhere from $5.99-$9.99.
