Enerflex Radiant Barrier

Enerflex acts as a radiant barrier and is typically installed on the underside of a roof to help reduce solar heat gain into the home. A radiant barrier serves a different function than insulation. Insulation is a very poor conductor of heat and as a result, slows the movement of heat due to conduction. Enerflex slows the movement of heat as a result of radiation.

You can install Enerflex as part of an easy, do-it-yourself project. And by installing it, you will be reflecting up to 96% of the radiant heat from the sun; in turn, your attic will be up to 30 degrees cooler. With a reduced cooling load on their air conditioning system, homeowners could expect to realize substantial savings on their utility bills.

The Enerflex Radiant Barrier is available in panels and rolls. The rolls are best used in new construction and in existing homes to cover gable ends and knee walls. The panels are installed as part of retrofits of existing homes.

Enerflex also helps builders gain points under the USGBC’s LEED for Homes green building program.
