from RavenBrick LLC
The RavenWindow from RavenBrick automatically adapts to the temperature outside to reduce the need for air conditioning or heat within the home.
On hot days, RavenWindow reflects the sun's light and heat away from the home, keeping indoor temperatures cooler. When outdoor temperatures drop, RavenWindow becomes transparent, letting solar heat inside. The window makes these adjustments automatically in order to maximize the homeowner’s energy savings.
The characteristics of the window allow energy costs to be reduced by 30% or more. Due to the windows adaptability, energy savings are realized in both hot and cold weather, all year long. As a result of this, the useful life of the home’s HVAC system is likely to be extended.
The RavenWindow can be installed before, during, or after home construction. The tinting that occurs during warm temperatures happens without any electricity – so there is no wiring or computerized systems needed.
The first product is expected to be shipped in March 2010. The company is projecting a cost of about $25 per sq ft.
