Green-Certified Homes Sell for 9% More

 

Money is always an issue when it comes to buying a house and there has been much debate about the cost of a “green” home.  How much is a “green” home worth compared to a less efficient one?  How much will it actually save you?  According to a study performed by two California college professors, “green” homes sell for about 9% more than their less efficient counterparts.  The study accounts for a large number of homes sold in California from 2007-2012 with some sort of green certification label (EnergyStar, LEED, GreenPoint).
