Efficient Framing Practices
The infrared picture shows a nice, even temperature across the walls and ceiling, except for the corner. The dark section is a cold spot in the wall cavity, which resulted from this five stud corner, which was not insulated. The yellow portion to the left of the infrared picture is a duct return. The better method for framing this area would have been to use ladder framing, which would have reduced the amount of lumber and tight spots, allowing for increased use of insulation in this specific spot.
